Custom domains are available as part of the Milkshake Pro Plus subscription.

Requirements for connecting your custom domain

1. You will need to already own a custom domain

At the moment, you can't purchase a domain through Milkshake. You will need to have purchased a domain via a domain registrar.

2. You will need to be able to follow technical instructions

Connecting your custom domain will require you to be able to log in to your domain registrar, navigate to the DNS settings and add and configure a new DNS record. View the full instructions here

3. You will need a Milkshake Pro Plus subscription

You will need to purchase a Milkshake Pro Plus subscription via the Milkshake App. Find out more about Milkshake subscriptions

Limitations

When connecting your custom domain, we strongly recommend setting up a subdomain (such as links.yourwebsite.com) rather than linking directly to your root domain (yourwebsite.com).

We recommend this approach because it is technically simpler.

If you need to connect your root domain (yourwebsite.com), you may need to use an external DNS provider, such as Cloudflare, in addition to your domain registrar. This will require setting up new DNS records across multiple services.

What is a custom domain?

A custom domain is a unique URL for your website.

Here's an example:

Milkshake domain: msha.ke/go.milkshake

Custom domain: milkshake.app or links.milkshake.app

All Milkshake sites come with a FREE Milkshake domain that you can update whenever and as often as you like. With a Milkshake Pro Plus subscription you can point your custom domain to your Milkshake site.

What is a subdomain?

A subdomain is an extension of your main domain that allows you to create separate sections of your website. It appears before your primary domain name in a web address.

For example:

Root domain: yourdomain.com
Subdomain: links.yourdomain.com

In this example, links is the subdomain.
